The Bike

Corratec

I am just using my old mountain bike. I have added some parts like racks and fenders to make it suitable for long distance bike touring.

It is mostly fine really. I have replaced some parts in Istanbul after the first 3000km.

Panniers and Racks

I got Tubus rear rack, Thule front rack and Ortlieb panniers for both front and rear.

Water proof bags are very important I think :D

Saddle

The saddle is surely one of the most important components to consider for long distance bike touring. After long considerations my desicion fell on a leather saddle from Brooks: The Brooks Flyer.

I am very happy with that decision, although I should have probably chosen the springless version (the springs make a lot of annoying noises, they add to the comfort though).

Really stoked about my insulated bike bottle from Klean Kanteen. That will keep my warm drinks warm and my cold drinks cold :D

Clothing

I haven't bought any new clothes for the tour and rather use things I've owned before with the option to buy new clothes en route.

Tyres

Schwalbe Marathon Mondial

I have chosen those tyres after a lot of research. Supposedly they are the best for touring the world. Well, I am not happy, having a lot of punctures used by debris on the street.

Pedal and Shoes

I have decided to tour with click pedals (which I am used to).

Pedals: Shimano XT SPD

Shoes: Mavic Alpine

Very happy with this shoe as I am wearing it almost all the time, for cycling, walking and so on. It's not the greatest shoe to walk in with the stiff sole but it's alright and I like it's simple design and black color.
